Yianna and Maurizio met through her ex-boyfriend. Maurizio wanted to date Yianna as soon as she became single, but she said no. Maurizio was persistent, and eventually Yianna gave in even though she didn’t like him then. As the years passed and Maurizio began to grow on her, she knew she was meant to love him. “I am forever grateful to him for wanting me in his life because it has made us both better people,” says Yianna. “He is my soulmate and I just needed a little nudge to see it.”
Maurizio proposed on the couple’s nine year anniversary. The two had recently purchased a new house which was empty, and after taking her to dinner Maurizio surprised Yianna by taking her there. The house was filled with roses and candles and so Maurizio got down on one knee and proposed. Yianna couldn’t wait to say yes!
As for the couple’s favourite wedding moments? For Yianna, she will never forget how calm she was standing by the priest and her husband-to-be at the ceremony. “My nerves got the best of me as I walked down the aisle but as soon as I grabbed Maurizio’s hands, all my nerves melted away,” says Yianna.
The couple loved every detail in their wedding, but the cake and reception food were among their top favourites.
